Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation co-founded the Cypress Hills Community School in 1997 with the NYC Board of Education and a group of activist parents. The school was opened the doors to its newly built permanent location on the corner of Warwick & Atlantic on September 10, 2010, after many years of being housed inside an intermediate school and portable classrooms, and now serves students in grades K-8.
- Dual language curriculum: all students learn their subjects in both English and Spanish.
- Parent Governance: Parents are actively involved in all levels of decision-making at the school, and the school is led by parent and teacher co-directors.
- Our school has small class size, with no more than 18-20 students per classroom, so that all students receive individual attention from teachers.
- CHLDC sponsors an afterschool program in the school serving its students
