Our Tenant Organizers help solve housing issues by collectively organizing tenants in their buildings to bring about positive changes. We work at buildings where crises need to be addressed, such as repair, safety or landlord concerns, and help tenants form tenant associations and launch campaigns to win improvements. Successes include winning repairs for individual apartments and buildings, removal of building superintendents who are gang leaders, and empowering tenants in foreclosed buildings to continue utility provision through transferring accounts into their names.
Our Tenant Counselors provide individual assistance to help tenants address the housing problems they are facing. This includes issues such as accessing housing subsidies, fighting eviction, and negotiating with landlords to obtain repairs for hazardous living conditions.
