TRAIN & EARN INDUSTRIAL
Train & Earn is a career pathway program for young adults ages 18–24 who are out of school and not working. Participants gain the skills, certifications, and support needed to begin a successful career through hands-on training, paid internships, and personalized guidance. The program includes career coaching, resume building, mock interviews, financial literacy, mental health support, a $700 stipend, and a paid internship at $18/hour for 150 hours.

Industrial Track: Participants earn credentials including NCCER Core, OSHA 30, Site Safety, Flagger, Driver’s License Training, and optional CDL Class C training, leading to careers in construction, transportation, and skilled trades.
To apply, all applicants must attend an in-person information session. During this session, they will complete an application and schedule an interview. Applicants must provide necessary documents such as their HSD or equivalent, Social Security Card, and ID.

YOUTHBUILD IGNITE
YouthBuild Ignite is a Brooklyn-based education and career training program for young adults ages 18–24 who are out of school and unemployed. Built for those ready for a fresh start, the program helps participants earn their high school equivalency diploma, develop real-world job skills, secure employment, and continue their journey through college or vocational training.
Participants receive paid hands-on training in construction and healthcare while earning industry-recognized certifications such as NCCER, OSHA 30, Site Safety, and CNA credentials. Students can earn up to $5,100 while gaining experience that creates opportunity and helps rehabilitate affordable housing in their own community.

Additional support includes Pre-HSE and HSE preparation, career coaching, job placement support, and college guidance. Classes are held Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 4 PM, at the Cypress Hills East New York Community Center, 276 Chestnut Street, Brooklyn, NY.
Like the phoenix that inspires its name, YouthBuild Ignite represents transformation, resilience, and new beginnings. Through mentorship, hands-on learning, and community support, participants uncover their strengths, take control of their future, and build a path powered by their own passion and potential.

CRED CONSTRUCTION
The CRED Construction Program helps NYC residents prepare for careers in the construction industry through free hands-on training and industry-recognized certifications. Participants gain the skills, safety knowledge, and job readiness needed to enter one of New York City’s most in-demand fields, while also accessing paid training opportunities of up to $500 per week, paid internships at $20 per hour, and career readiness support designed to help you start strong.

BUILDING EAST NEW YORK PROGRAM
Construction is rapidly growing in East New York, with many new apartments set to be built soon. The Building East New York (BENY) program offers training in construction skills and connects local residents to job opportunities on nearby construction sites. We welcome both beginners and experienced workers to apply.

BUILDING WORKS
Build the foundation for a career in the trades with this free Carpentry Pre-Apprenticeship program. Designed for adults ready to enter the construction industry, this 4–8 week training prepares participants for future carpentry apprenticeship opportunities through hands-on learning and industry-recognized certifications.
Participants receive training in workplace safety, construction readiness, and essential jobsite skills while earning credentials such as OSHA Construction Safety, 40-Hour Hazardous Waste Worker, Scaffold, and more.

TRANSPORTATION ADVANCED TRAINING
Every year, many good jobs in transportation go unfilled. Earning a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is an easy way to start a stable, rewarding career. Our Transportation Training Program helps you get a CDL Class C License with a Passenger Endorsement.
This is the entry-level license needed to begin working in the transportation field, and it does not require a road test. After completing the program, we can help you find a job with an Access-A-Ride company, so you can start working right away.

Job training includes preparation for the DMV test, job search assistance, financial literacy, resume writing assistance, and support services.

PER SCHOLAS SATELLITE
As a Per Scholas Satellite partner, Cypress Hills LDC brings free, high-quality technology training directly to the Brooklyn community. Designed for adults ready to launch a career in tech, this program provides the skills, certifications, and support needed to step into today’s fast-growing technology workforce. Participants can choose from two career-focused training tracks:
Cybersecurity Training: Prepare for in-demand roles such as Cybersecurity Analyst, Junior Desktop Technician, or Tech Support Engineer. Participants work toward the Cybersecurity Analyst (CySA+) credential while learning how to protect systems, networks, and data from digital threats.
IT Support Training: Build a strong foundation for entry-level tech careers through hands-on training in computer hardware, operating systems, troubleshooting, and support technologies. Participants earn the CompTIA A+ Certification and Google IT Support Professional Certificate.
Both tracks include tuition-free training, materials and hardware, career coaching, and job placement assistance to help participants move confidently into the tech industry.

Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP)
Career Ready SYEP:
This program partners with specific high schools and is not open to everyone. High school students aged 14 to 21 who attend Franklin K. Lane or Thomas Jefferson schools can apply.

The Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) offers paid summer jobs for New York City youth aged 14 to 24 for up to six weeks in July and August. CHLDC is one of the organizations hosting this program alongside others across all five boroughs. There are two types of SYEP: Career Ready SYEP and Community-Based SYEP.
Community-Based SYEP:
This program is open to anyone aged 16 to 24, no matter which school they attend. When applying, you will need to choose a provider. If you want to work with our agency, select Cypress Hills LDC as your main provider before submitting your application.

WORK, LEARN, & GROW
The Work, Learn, and Grow Program (WLG) helps high school students build on the skills and experiences they gained in the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP). WLG offers career readiness training and paid jobs for up to 25 weeks, running from October to April. Participants can work in various entry-level jobs, including at government agencies, hospitals, non-profits, small businesses, law firms, museums, sports companies, and retail organizations.
WLG’s career readiness training covers important topics such as career exploration, financial literacy, conflict resolution, resume and cover letter writing, and opportunities for further education and personal growth.
