Turning Local Potential Into Lasting Change.
Cypress Hills Local Development Corporation (CHLDC) is a community-driven organization working alongside the residents of East New York, Cypress Hills, City Line, Starrett City, and Spring Creek, home to more than 200,000 people and vibrant immigrant communities from across the Dominican Republic, Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago, Ecuador, Mexico, Bangladesh, and beyond. Founded in 1983 by local residents and small business owners determined to invest in their neighborhood’s future, CHLDC has grown into a dynamic organization serving more than 20,000 people each year. Our work focuses on building opportunity, supporting families, and empowering residents, especially the next generation of leaders, to shape the future of their community. Rooted in the neighborhood and guided by community voices, we believe the people who live here should lead what comes next.
